Synopsis:

"Jacob's Sound" is the story of a black deaf clown and his unrequited love for a pretty schoolteacher he sees in the audience year after year at one of the circus stops. He was never taught how to speak so he must find alternative ways to express his love. His friend/mentor, Lucky, tries to tell him to just try and speak but Jacob is too embarrassed. Through Jacob's quest to discover love he discovers himself. Although Jacob's Sound is only 15 minutes long, Tyhm Kennedy (Jacob) packs it with powerful emotions and executes a spectacular performace.

Production Highlights:

Anna Dudley knew that making a film costs a lot of money, so she decided to shoot in Wilmington, NC. Wilmington is home to the WB show "Dawson's Creek" and films such as "Black Knight" and "Domestic Disturbance" have been shot there. Anna found a producer in Wilmington and got to work. Her producer procured a stage and office space at EUE/Scneegems Studios, LTD and called all of her contacts. Soon a full crew was hired. People came from Winston-Salem, NC and as far as Nashville, TN to help Anna make JACOB'S SOUND. The crew worked on a volunteer basis for the love of filmmaking. JACOB'S SOUND was shot on 35mm film with Panavision cameras and lenses. 100 extras showed up for the pivotal circus scene. Volunteers taught the leads sign language so the film would be realisic. Volunteers provided housing for Anna and her Director of Photography, B. Francis Cole. The city of Wilmington was a great support for JACOB'S SOUND.
